We wished we could have spent at least 5 days in each location, if our budget allowed. We like a very relaxed pace and being able to make changes on the fly. In the future, I would pay closer attention to departure times for trains and transfers. When I requested a train re-booking, Kim took care of it quickly. Although this was the first time we paid full in advance for all tickets and bookings, it was perfect. Even for a “control freak” such as myself.”

The amount of time spent driving or stopping to see an event or just scenery was what we wanted and was enjoyable.
We enjoyed the sightseeing in London and the stops in a remote corner of Ireland. The play we saw in the Piccadilly Theatre was a nice option that we enjoyed. Our stop in Ireland to see the sheep herded by shepherds and dogs was very interesting. The diverse choice of hotels and locations was just what we were looking for. The hotels in London and Dublin were great and in perfect locations to walk to all the sites.”

Scotland had amazing scenery and our driving tour and planned excursions showed us so much. ” Many thanks to Eleanor and the whole Routescape team for creating a detailed, bespoke itinerary for our last-minute trip to London, Wales, and the Cotswolds. Every step of the way went flawlessly. Even when we disembarked at the wrong train station in rural Wales (totally self-inflicted mistake), a quick phone call to Routescape, set everything right within minutes. A driver showed up out of nowhere to save the day so that our misstep was a mere blip.
The accommodations were charming and the dining recommendations were spot-on. Our days were filled with memorable experiences, from a backstage tour of the spectacular Tottenham Hotspurs stadium, to theatre tickets in Soho, to the wild green hilltops of Pembrokeshire, to the picturesque beach town of Newport, to the standing stones of Pentre Ifan, to Skomer island with its thousands of nesting puffins, to the tour of Oxford University – the pacing of the journey was just perfect! I have no words to describe the natural beauty of Wales and the Cotswolds.
We had delightful meals – especially the unique outdoor bar at the Secret Garden behind the Llys Medigg, the prix-fixe dinner at the Tides in Newport and the Sunday roast at the Old Parsonage near Oxford. We thoroughly enjoyed our Welsh tour guides, Ewan, Laura and their charming dog, Mabli. This was a highlight for me, personally. At one point, we pulled over to admire the beautiful Pembrokeshire landscape slopping down to the sea and were approached by the sweetest half-wild Welsh pony! This magical creature joined several family photos I will treasure forever!
To top it off, our Routescape travel agent, Eleanor, exceeded all of our expectations in planning and communication. Not only was the tour itself exactly what we hoped for, but her writing is delightful! The written itinerary was lovely in its descriptions. We savoured each day in anticipation and will save the itinerary to remember our tour all the more vividly. “

” As a group of 12 we did not to drive but also did not want a ‘big bus tour’ with a set itinerary. We did not want to ‘follow an umbrella’. Scotland exceeded our expectations. Your plan of traveling from place to place one day and plans the next was wonderful. While we were tired at the end of the day, we were NOT so exhausted we couldn’t do anything the next.
Your decision to change us from the train for James to take us to Oban was hands down one of the best. All of our guides were great but he was the best. His knowledge was amazing. His tour of well known and not so well known was spot on. We enjoyed the entire day with him. We have some fabulous pictures, stories and history from our time with him and definitely want to see him again on our next visit.
